JESUS WILL NEVER BE A GUEST IN OUR MARRIAGE

The Wedding at Cana teaches us something 𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙮 𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙥𝙡𝙚𝙨 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙢𝙞𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙤𝙙𝙖𝙮.

Scripture makes it clear that God is the author of marriage and that what God has joined together, 𝙣𝙤 𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙨𝙚𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙚 (Mark 10:9).

But there is something 𝙬𝙚 𝙤𝙛𝙩𝙚𝙣 𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙡𝙤𝙤𝙠:

𝙂𝙤𝙙 𝙘𝙖𝙣𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙗𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙊𝙣𝙚 𝙬𝙝𝙤 𝙨𝙪𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙨 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙬𝙚 𝙧𝙚𝙛𝙪𝙨𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙜𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙃𝙞𝙢 𝙖𝙘𝙘𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙩𝙤.

At Cana of Galilee, Jesus was invited to a wedding (John 2:1–10).

He was present, but notice what happened: 𝙖 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙗𝙡𝙚𝙢 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙪𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙗𝙚𝙘𝙖𝙢𝙚 𝙫𝙞𝙨𝙞𝙗𝙡𝙚.

The wine ran out.
There was 𝙚𝙢𝙗𝙖𝙧𝙧𝙖𝙨𝙨𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩.

A potentially damaging situation.

Jesus eventually intervened and turned water into wine.

We call it a great miracle and rightly so.

𝘽𝙪𝙩 𝙄 𝙨𝙚𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙙𝙞𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣:

Jesus was solving a marriage/wedding crisis.

And it raises a serious question for today’s couples:

𝙄𝙨 𝙅𝙚𝙨𝙪𝙨 𝙖 𝙜𝙪𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙞𝙣 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙢𝙖𝙧𝙧𝙞𝙖𝙜𝙚, 𝙤𝙧 𝙞𝙨 𝙃𝙚 𝙖 𝙘𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙢𝙚𝙢𝙗𝙚𝙧 𝙤𝙛 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙛𝙖𝙢𝙞𝙡𝙮?

Many couples invite Jesus to their wedding but 𝙚𝙭𝙘𝙡𝙪𝙙𝙚 𝙃𝙞𝙢 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙞𝙧 𝙢𝙖𝙧𝙧𝙞𝙖𝙜𝙚.

They invite Him to bless the relationship, but 𝙙𝙤𝙣’𝙩 𝙞𝙣𝙫𝙞𝙩𝙚 𝙃𝙞𝙢 𝙩𝙤 𝙜𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙣 𝙞𝙩.

They ask Him to join them, but 𝙙𝙤𝙣’𝙩 𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙤𝙬 𝙃𝙞𝙢 𝙩𝙤 𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙢.

They use God to achieve their marital desires, then proceed as though 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙣𝙤 𝙡𝙤𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙧 𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙙 𝙃𝙞𝙢.

Don’t use God to get married and then 𝙨𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙚 𝙃𝙞𝙢 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙜𝙚𝙩 𝙢𝙖𝙧𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙙.

𝙄𝙛 𝙅𝙚𝙨𝙪𝙨 𝙞𝙨 𝙢𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙡𝙮 𝙖 𝙜𝙪𝙚𝙨𝙩, 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙢𝙖𝙮 𝙤𝙣𝙡𝙮 𝙧𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙢𝙗𝙚𝙧 𝙃𝙞𝙢 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙞𝙣𝙚 𝙧𝙪𝙣𝙨 𝙤𝙪𝙩.

But when He is at the centre, you don’t have to wait until the crisis becomes visible before seeking His wisdom, direction and intervention. 𝙀𝙫𝙚𝙣 𝙗𝙚𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙙𝙤, 𝙃𝙚’𝙡𝙡 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙚.

Jesus should not be your 𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙧𝙜𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙮
𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙘𝙩 𝙞𝙣 𝙢𝙖𝙧𝙧𝙞𝙖𝙜𝙚.

He should be part of the 𝙙𝙖𝙞𝙡𝙮 𝙤𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙝𝙤𝙢𝙚.

Pray 𝙩𝙤𝙜𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧.

Seek His 𝙬𝙞𝙨𝙙𝙤𝙢.

Submit your 𝙙𝙚𝙘𝙞𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙃𝙞𝙢.

Build your home around 𝙃𝙞𝙨 𝙒𝙤𝙧𝙙.

Let Him shape how you communicate, forgive, love, parent and 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙤𝙡𝙫𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙛𝙡𝙞𝙘𝙩.

𝘽𝙚𝙘𝙖𝙪𝙨𝙚 𝙢𝙖𝙧𝙧𝙞𝙖𝙜𝙚 𝙞𝙨 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙨𝙪𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙙 𝙢𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙡𝙮 𝙗𝙮 𝙗𝙚𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚 “𝙧𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙤𝙣.”

It is sustained by building the marriage 𝙂𝙤𝙙’𝙨 𝙬𝙖𝙮.

As for me and my family:
𝙅𝙚𝙨𝙪𝙨 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙣𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙗𝙚 𝙖 𝙜𝙪𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙞𝙣 𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙝𝙤𝙢𝙚.

𝙃𝙚 𝙞𝙨 𝙖 𝘾𝙊𝙍𝙀 𝙈𝙀𝙈𝘽𝙀𝙍.

“As for me and my house, we will serve the 𝙇𝙊𝙍𝘿.” — Joshua 24:15
